Let’s talk women
Feminism is not a dirty word and to prove it, I am looking forward to talking women’s issues this Thursday 23 September! Join me for a relaxed but Salient Chat with Associate Professor Karen Detering and myself at 5.30pm where we will talk about three key things.
Women as mothers;
Women in the workforce and power; and
Women and the re-presentation of the working woman.
It promises to be an interesting session as I know some people attending have travelled the women/ working mother journey over recent years (including myself and Karen!). I am particularly keen to talk about the challenge to traditional power structures that working women present and how, in turn, women seek to ‘re-present’ themselves to defuse some of the negative stereotypes about women. Social media presents new challenges but time will limit us, so let's look forward to talking about women and what our presence means in the workforce and the power we seek to access as ‘working women/mothers’.
I hope you bring some questions so we can have an interactive chat at the end. Event link is here:
Event is free, but donations to a particular charity are welcomed is possible, as per the Eventbrite page.
Hope to see you there!
